ARAMARK Grounds Spray Technician -- Florida International University in Miami, Florida

Job Description

The Grounds Spray Tech is an hourly Lead Grounds classification, responsible for inspecting grounds to confirm the presence of lawn and ornamental pests and develop written pest control recommendations for chemical, biological or cultural treatments, if required.

Job Responsibilities

  • Maintains and improves facility grounds based on established sustainability guidelines

  • Applies planned designs to resolve landscaping needs

  • Performs tasks such as planting, mowing, weeding, fertilizing, sweeping, raking, salting, shoveling snow, removing ice, etc

  • Operates various types of equipment including power mowers, saws, weed eaters, hedge trimmers, sprayers, etc

  • May be required to operate trucks, tractors and attachments used to maintain grounds as needed

  • Responsible for cleaning and upkeep of sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, etc

  • Performs regular maintenance and minor repairs on lawn equipment and tools

  • Ensures compliance with code requirements, adheres to all safety policies and procedures, supports groundskeeping best practices and reports any malfunctions/defects to supervisor immediately

  • Trains, guides and fields questions from newer staff on job duties, safety procedures, etc

  • Performs grounds audits and uses information to make positive changes, become more efficient and improve quality of service

Qualifications

Performs property inspections and creates and implements treatment plans

· Read chemical container labels, calibrates application equipment and makes mathematical calculations to determine proper use, rates and calibrations of pest control applications

· Assists Certified Pest Control Operator with training and supervision of field crews for pesticide applications

· Determines proper storage for all fertilizers, insecticides, fungicides and herbicides in inventory

· Keeps and updates spray application logs, chemical inventory logs and MSD books

· Participates in safety awareness programs and follows all PPE requirements

· Complete spray work orders as per schedule

· Treat specific insect, weed, turf, disease and nutritional deficiencies by application of appropriate product

· Operate sprayers and spreaders

Needs to be able to lift up to 70 lbs
